Everything you
need to know.

How mobile IV therapy works, who can have a drip, prices and booking, and what to do before and after your session.

About the service

What is IV therapy?

It is a procedure that delivers fluids and, depending on the formula, vitamins, minerals or medication directly into the bloodstream. Its use should be clinically assessed, since not everyone needs or benefits from intravenous administration.

Is IV therapy safe?

Like any intravenous procedure, it carries possible risks and contraindications. That is why we carry out an individual assessment and monitor the whole procedure. A session may be declined or stopped for safety reasons.

Does IV therapy replace seeing a doctor?

No. IV therapy does not replace a medical consultation, diagnosis or treatment. If you have a medical condition or persistent symptoms, or take medication regularly, it is important to make sure the procedure is right for your situation.

Who gives the drips?

Sessions are carried out by nurses registered with the Portuguese Nursing Board (Ordem dos Enfermeiros), who stay with you from start to finish. Before each session, a doctor reviews your health form (by video call if needed) and writes an individual prescription, following written clinical protocols.

How long does a session take?

The infusion usually takes 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the formula. Also allow time for the assessment and preparation, and for observation at the end: at least 15 minutes, or 30 minutes if the drip contains medication.

Does it hurt? What if I am afraid of needles?

You may feel a small pinch when the IV goes in, similar to a blood test. If you are afraid of needles or tend to feel dizzy during this kind of procedure, let us know in advance so we can adapt the procedure and make you more comfortable.

Choosing your drip

Can I choose what goes into my drip?

You can choose from the available formulas and request the add-ons shown on the site. The composition of each drip is set in advance, and its administration always depends on a clinical assessment.

Can I add a product I bring myself?

No. For safety reasons, we do not administer products brought by clients. Every component we use has a verifiable source, composition, dose and storage conditions.

Do you offer NAD+, peptides or glutamine?

No. These products are not currently part of the formulas available at Solace IV. We only work with the options shown in our catalog.

Safety and health

Are there cases where you cannot have IV therapy?

Yes. We follow a written clinical protocol. We do not give drips during pregnancy (or possible pregnancy) or breastfeeding, to anyone under 18, to people with diabetes or active cancer, or to people with severe heart failure, moderate or severe chronic kidney disease, moderate or severe liver disease, a fever of 38.5 °C (101.3 °F) or more, a clotting disorder, a known allergy to a component or a history of severe allergic reaction, nor within 6 hours of alcohol or other substances. Some components have their own contraindications, such as G6PD deficiency or kidney stones for drips with vitamin C. That is why the health form and the medical assessment are mandatory.

I take medication regularly. Is that a problem?

It depends on the medication, the formula you choose and your general health. Some medications can interact or call for extra precautions. List all the medications and supplements you take on the health form, including over-the-counter ones.

Do I need blood tests before the session?

Not always. Whether you need tests depends on your clinical situation and the formula you want. Once we have reviewed your health form, we tell you if any additional assessment is needed before the session starts.

How often can I have IV therapy?

At Solace IV, as a precaution, we generally keep at least 14 days between sessions. The right frequency depends on the composition of the drip, your health and whether there is a clinical indication.

I had a drip a few days ago. Can I have another?

If you had a session less than 14 days ago, say so on the health form. We need to know when it was and what the drip contained so we can assess whether another one is possible.

Do you treat anyone under 18?

No. The service is for adults aged 18 to 65. Over 65, only after an individual medical assessment: talk to us before booking.

Can I have a session if I am unwell?

It depends on your symptoms. With a fever of 38.5 °C (101.3 °F) or more, or a suspected widespread infection, we do not give the drip and the right course is a medical assessment; between 37.8 and 38.4 °C, the doctor decides. Chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, confusion, vomiting blood, black stools, severe abdominal pain, or vomiting and diarrhea for more than 48 hours are signs to call 112 or go to the emergency department. Mobile IV therapy is not an emergency service.

I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I have a session?

No. We do not give drips during pregnancy, if pregnancy is possible, or during breastfeeding. The safety of these intravenous formulas at these times has not been established.

I have diabetes. Can I have a drip?

No. Under our clinical protocol, we do not give drips to anyone with diabetes of any type (type 1, type 2 or gestational).

I am a competitive athlete. Can I have a drip?

It depends. The World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List bans intravenous infusions of more than 100 mL in 12 hours outside hospital, unless you have a therapeutic use exemption, and all our drips are 1000 mL. If you are subject to anti-doping testing, we do not give the Performance Drip, and for the other drips, check with your federation first.

What if I have a reaction during the session?

The nurse stays with you for the whole procedure and always carries emergency equipment, including what is needed to treat a severe allergic reaction. If an adverse reaction occurs, the infusion is stopped and the situation is managed according to the protocol. If necessary, we call 112.

Where and when to book

Which areas do you cover?

Travel is included in Lisbon, Amadora, Oeiras, Carnaxide, Queluz, Cacém, Odivelas and Sacavém. Cascais, Estoril, Sintra, Loures and Almada carry an additional €50 fee. We also travel to other places, subject to a quote and availability.

Do you come to hotels, or only to homes?

We hold sessions in private homes, hotels and short-term rentals. We just need a suitable space that is comfortable, well lit and clean, with a bathroom, so the procedure can be done safely.

Can I book a session in the evening?

Yes, subject to the team’s availability. Sessions from 7 PM on carry an evening surcharge, shown before the booking is confirmed.

How far ahead should I book?

You can see the available times right on the site. In many cases, you can request a session for the same day. If you need a different time, contact us on WhatsApp and we will see what is possible.

Can I book sessions for a group?

Yes. We organize sessions for several people, including events, and a health assessment and individual consent from each participant are mandatory. Groups get special terms, with a discount from the third person on.

Prices, payment and terms

How much does a mobile IV therapy session cost?

Prices start at €300, depending on the formula you choose. The price includes materials, the assessment and supervision, as well as travel within the service area. Add-ons cost €50 each. Any surcharges are shown before you confirm.

Why do all the add-ons cost the same?

Add-ons have a fixed price of €50, which covers the materials, preparation and procedures involved in giving them. Whether an add-on can be included always depends on whether it is clinically appropriate.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay in advance, book with a deposit, or agree on payment terms with our team. We accept the methods shown during booking, including card, bank transfer and cash. Prices and any discounts are shown before you confirm.

Do you issue invoices? Can I use my health insurance?

Yes. The prices shown do not include VAT: if you need an invoice, VAT is added at the applicable legal rate. Let us know when you book. A receipt is issued for every session. If you have health insurance, you can submit the documents to your insurer to find out whether they cover part of the cost. Coverage depends on the terms of your policy.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

Yes. With more than 24 hours’ notice, you can ask to reschedule or for a full refund, in line with the terms of the service. For cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, the terms of our cancellation policy apply.

Is my health data protected?

The information collected on the health form is handled confidentially and used to assess and deliver the service safely, and to meet the applicable legal obligations. Data processing complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Before and after the session

What should I do before the session?

Unless there is a clinical reason not to, we recommend that you drink water as usual, have a light meal and wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to your arm. Avoid alcohol and other substances before the session, and let us know if anything about your health has changed.

Do I need to prepare anything at home?

Just a clean, comfortable space where you can lie down or sit, with good lighting and access to a bathroom. We bring everything needed, including the IV equipment.

Can I work or drive after the session?

After drips with magnesium (the Myers' Classic, the Performance Drip or the magnesium extra) or with medication (the Hangover Reset, the anti-nausea or the anti-inflammatory extra), you should not drive for the next 4 to 6 hours. After the others, you can get on with your day as normal as long as you feel well: if you feel dizzy or drowsy, do not drive. Before the session ends, we explain the specific precautions.

The session

How it goes, start to finish

The procedure is the same whichever drip you choose, and so is the clinical care, whether the session is at your home or at your hotel.

1

Before

Before the day, a doctor reviews your health form in a screening consultation (by video call if needed) and writes your individual prescription. On site, we go through the form with you: allergies, medication, health conditions and pregnancy. We check your blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and temperature. If anything is not right, the session does not go ahead and we explain why.

2

During

The IV catheter is placed with sterile, single-use equipment. The nurse stays with you from start to finish, keeps an eye on how you are doing, checks your vital signs halfway through and at the end, and adjusts the infusion rate. If any reaction appears, the infusion is stopped and the situation is assessed. You can stop the session at any time, without having to explain why.

3

After

We remove the IV catheter, apply pressure to the site and keep you under observation for at least 15 minutes (30 minutes if the drip contains medication). We give you written guidance on what may come up over the next few hours, when to call 112 and the precautions to take: after drips with magnesium or medication, do not drive for the next 4 to 6 hours. We stay reachable for the rest of the day.
